Stolen time is just delicious...

...and I managed a few quick sessions this week.  I've created two more embroidery thread baskets

and love the wild shapes.

I'm amused by how different they look while in process - messy, gloopy and out of control!

I finished an 10" x 8" collage, as yet untitled (got any ideas?),

and noticed a circle cut overlaying a painting in progress in much the same colours.  Funny how things can strike an artist, isn't it?  I really liked the way this looks and may turn it into a mini card.

I'm on deck for a child's birthday party this week, and given that I've not done this in some 30+ years, I've been enjoying the experience.  My granddaughter turns five and her other gran is bringing her and her brother here to celebrate.  I had so much fun putting things together - food, gifts, and goody boxes.  I loved the boxes so much I may go back to the Dollar Store a purchase a couple for myself.  🤣

I think they'd be perfect for just about any small collection, don't you?

Wishing you a wonderfully colourful and creative week - may you celebrate like a five-year-old at her own birthday party!  💗

  1. Where do I start. I think your thread baskets are lovely. They would make wonderful sculptures too.
I love your collage. So beautiful the orbs just seem to float in space. That's why I'm calling it "Space Walk". You come up with so many delightful patterns and blended colors. You are an absolute creative genius. And the gift boxes another clever stroke of genius. You're the worlds best Grandma, and a wonderful friend too. I should know.
Big hugs and best wishes to you my dear. Deann

    1. So many thanks, Deann...I'm loving the thread baskets too, and will do some more experimenting with painted cheesecloth and/or dryer sheets and/or baby wipes. Messy play is so much fun! 🤣

Oh, I just love the Space Walk title. That's a great idea!

Sending you big hugs, best wishes, and major appreciation for being such a kindred spirit. You so often make my week brighter/funnier/calmer. xo

  2. Those little bowls are just wild! I love the tendrils reaching out to touch the world.
Wishing your granddaughter a wonderful birthday. As the girl who was always sitting on the stairs reading a book at birthday parties, I hope she throws herself into all the fun with abandon :)

    1. What a lovely phrase, Tracy - 'tendrils reaching out to touch the world'! And Chloe had a lovely birthday. No sitting on the sidelines for that girl (as I, too, would have done). She was frolic to the max, filled with fun and engaged in every moment!!

  3. Someone's going to love these! I can understand you wanting one for yourself, do we ever grow up? do we want to! The embroidery thread baskets are amazing, love them to bits. So imaginative you clever lady. I smiled at the coment about things that strike the artist as I was looking at some left-over paper today and just couldn't throw it away as it was just ringing in my head that I could make something else with it. Thanks for your lovely comments over at mine too. Sending messy hugs, Angela xXx

    1. I definitely have not grown up when it comes to colour. When I found out there were more children coming to the party, I bought/created more, and purchased an extra box for myself. 🤣🤣

And saving itsy-bitsy pieces of paper? I'm right there with you.

Messy hugs right back to you, my far-flung friend!

  5. The embroidery thread trainers made me smile from ear to ear, they're terrific! What an invention!
The magnificent collage reminded me of the edge of a swimming pool with circles in the water. Then, when I enlarged it, I realised that the lawn goes right up to the water's edge.
The birthday boxes are really pretty with those psychedelic colours. But I also noticed the paintings hanging on the wall. I love your studio, dear friend.
I'm sending you a cargo plane full of hugs.
