...and playing with colour.
I had a chance to 'finish' (do we ever really finish anything??) the half dozen 4" x 3" collages,
This past long weekend was our Blossom Fest (the 83rd, I believe). Although John was too ill with a cold/flu and unable to enjoy the huge number of events, we did happen upon the setup for the Childrens' Parade on Monday. I really loved this costume on one of the volunteers. It cracked me up when she told me 'my mom made it for me'.
Between the costumes on the volunteers and the childrens' enthusiasm, I've no doubt the parade was outstanding!
I'm hoping your week was colourful, fun and just as playful to boot! See you on the other side...
Nice captures.
ReplyDeleteWin my friend, I'm loving your abstract mini's together in a fame they look wonderful.
ReplyDeleteI am holding my breath on the thread pictures. I know you will come up with something brilliant.
Your grandchildren must love your very special birthday cards. I know I do. What an awesome Grandma you are.
Don't you just love Iris? Especially multi-colored ones like yours. They go away so quickly and they are amazing.
Your friends and their costumes are as bright and creative as you are. How fun!
I am sorry the John has the flu and I hope he's better soon, and doesn't share it with you. Wishing you both good health, warm weather, and all the threads you need to create a masterpiece.
Hugs from here, Deann
Thanks, Deann - I'm liking the cool colour combination of these collages, and with some 30+ more pages to play with, I've no doubt there will be more coming. 😉
DeleteMy grandkids enjoy their paintings and I'm hoping my ability to create will keep apace with their next fifteen birthdays at least (and that their changing passions will be easy to translate into paintings so they'll be able to track their childhood loves.
John is feeling better now, and I've managed to avoid the bug, thank goodness. Here's to warmer weather for all of us, and a delightful transition into the joy of summer. Sending you great big hugs, my friend. xo
Hi Win, you know I will love the collage grids. I like your choice of colours and the arrangement of the pieces too and that's a great way to do a gel print too. The Iris are very pretty, one of my favourite flowers. The Parade looks like fun, love the ladies costume made by her mother! Pleased to hear John's feeling better and that you avoid it. The crazy thing is that we've not had any rain here for weeks and we really need it now. Have a good weekend and happy creating. Hugs Angela xXx
ReplyDeleteThat just tickles my funny bone, Angela. While I do like the look of the grids, the making of them is my life challenge (staying within a box is SO not my thing 😄). The colour combination does please me, though.
DeleteThe iris are a tribute to a decades-long friend that we lost to cancer a few years ago. They were her favourite flower, and I love seeing them in our garden each year.
It was fun to see those kidlets (volunteers included) prep for their parade!
I'd be happy to send you some rain, given that we've had some wild and crazy ones here, including a hail storm that woke the neighbourhood!
That little collection of collages is just wonderful, Win. So harmonious and soothing in palette but exciting in texture and shape. Send John best wishes for a speedy recovery!
ReplyDeleteMany thanks, Tracy - I just love this colour combination and playing with composition is a great exercise! John is returning to health, thank goodness, and happy to be near over the cold!
DeleteI love these perfectly composed colour cards.
ReplyDeleteThey're very hypnotic, with those circles punctuating each one.
You're very good, my dear!
These costumes are so much fun, and they're a sign of festive cheerfulness and of being able to “let go”.
I'm glad John's back on his feet and that you didn't catch the virus, you have a great immune system!
If not, well, long live threads and irises!
I send you lots of kisses and wish you lots of happiness.
Many thanks, Sim - these were fun to do (apart from the staying inside a rectangle :D ).
DeleteAnd I totally agree about the costumes on the volunteers and children - it was a delight to see the playfulness.
Sending you a world of happiness right back, my Fabulous French Friend!! Many hugs from this side of the world!!
Those six collages in a frame are looking so good together!
ReplyDeleteI'm quite pleased with them, and just loving the wide range of colours these two pigments create!!
